FPC Calvin Choir

The Calvin Choir, under the direction of Ron Richardson, rehearses on Thursday nights from 7 - 8:30 PM. and sings Sunday mornings at the 9:45 AM Blended and 11:10 AM Traditional Services. We include a broad range of classical, traditional, hymn-tunes, spirituals, and contemporary music, and there is always room for more voices! Admission into the group is by interview. Choral experience and music reading are helpful. We delight in the knowledge and gifts that singers bring, and are constantly stretching and growing in our musical ability as well as our Christian journey. In the past four years, besides our normal Sunday morning service anthems, we have also sung the Mozart, Rutter, Faure, and Durufle Requiems, Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on Christmas Carols, The Many Moods of Christmas by Shaw/Bennett (Suites 1,2,3, and 4) the Randol Bass Gloria, The Rutter Gloria, The Hayes Magnificat, Jubilate! by Saylor, Pinkhams' Christmas Cantata (Sinfonia Sacra), Gabrieli's Jubilate Deo, and Bach Cantatas # 80 #140 and #147, all with full orchestral accompaniment.
On May 3rd, 2008, the Calvin Choir sang the Brahms Requiem (in German) in the Mondavi Center at UC Davis with the Valley Choral Society, and the choirs from Fair Oaks and Fremont Presbyterian Churches. The Sacramento Youth Symphony (Premier Orchestra) provided the orchestral accompaniment. Maestro Michel Neumann conducted. There were over 300 performers on stage.
I waited patiently for the Lord; He inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.
-Psalm 40:1-3

Choir begins again on Sunday September 5th. Join us as we sing and praise the Lord and rehearse each Thursday evening from 7pm - 8:30 pm. If you are new, call the office so that we can reserve a music folder for you. Our first rehearsal will be Thursday September 2nd.
