Katya was born in Russia, where she began her musical studies at the age of seven. She decided to make music her profession, eventually graduating from musical School, College and Conservatory in Russia, earning advanced degrees in 'Piano', 'Chamber music', 'Organ' and 'Musical Science'. She was then awarded a scholarship at Ecumenical Institute of Church Music by Hochschule Der Kunste in Berlin, Germany, where she received yet another degree in 'Organ Performance' and started working as a church organist.

Returning to Russia, she married Alex, a physician, with whom she eventually moved to US.

They came to America first living in Chicago, where Katya worked as a church organist, piano and organ teacher and performer. She continues doing so, currently residing in Auburn, CA. She plays services mainly at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Grass Valley and at First Presbyterian Church in Roseville. She performs in different concert programs in the area, including 'Messiah Sing-along' with Auburn Symphony.

If money or time were no object, I would vacation in:  Iʼd go around the world.

My favorite ethnic food is:  Thai, sushi, Russian.

If I could meet any deceased person (besides Jesus) it would be:  J.S. Bach because:  I would be curious to have serious music studies with J.S.Bach.

If I knew I only had a month to live I would:  finish what I could, leave the rest, prepare myself for the transition, love deeply, and live happily ever after.
