Here are two "views" into FPC's mission and values:

A Brief Mission Statement

The following brief church mission statement was developed in 2004 during FPC's most recent Associate Pastor search process:

First Presbyterian is a Christ-centered, biblically based, Confessing church that is intentionally seeking to fulfill the two elements of the Great Commission: to grow broader (reaching more people) and to grow deeper (making disciples of followers).

In growing broader, we seek to reach both churched and unchurched people through numerous programs and by personal invitation from those who attend. FPC recognizes its role as a missional outpost for Jesus Christ in our community. We define mission globally, nationally and locally.

Cultural and generational changes influence our society, and FPC recognizes the need to change in order to maintain its effective witness and outreach. Thus, we are a church that is open to new forms of ministry, worship and outreach while maintaining our core biblical functions.

Simultaneously, we are seeking to deepen our walk with God. We endeavor to grow mature disciples of Jesus by using biblically centered, practically applied messages from the pulpit, adult education classes and weekly small group gatherings.

We seek to influence the larger church and the renewal and growth of our denomination. As a teaching church we seek to be a resource to other churches and leaders, and to develop future leaders through our internship program.
